More flowers!
Coffeehouse Bluebells, mixed media on paper, 10.5" x 6".
Not feeling well today, I went and sat in the neighborhood coffeehouse sipping peach-ginger tea to soothe my upset stomach. These flowers were growing in a parking lot planter, so I took a stalk and drew it. It was a nice, quiet thing to do when I didn't feel up to much else.

Flower drawings
Above, Farmer's Market Flowers, 11 x 14" mixed media on paper. This was done on site at the Bloomington Farmer's Market on Saturday, June 20th. It was a drawing demo to help attract attention to the Art Center's booth and the classes offered there. I really had fun, not to mention an excuse to buy flowers.
Below, Eden Prairie Flower, 5 x 7" mixed media on paper. I began this while waiting for my boss to show up at a job site earlier this month. I've taken on part-time work with a brush and roller to make ends meet.
Both these drawings are for sale. The larger one is $60 for the drawing only, without mat, or $80 matted to fit a standard 16 x 20" frame. Small drawing is $40 and comes with mat included, to fit a standard 8 x 10" frame.

Chia the Cat, Mark Two; Oscar the Cat.
Oscar the Cat, above, has no vision in his right eye. This is a 5 x 7" portrait in pastel on paper, for Oscar's loving humans over in England.
Below, Chia (the Second), also pastel on paper, 6.5 x 8.5". For a friend on The Motley Fool boards. She liked the first Chia portrait so much she ordered another for her sister.
Remarkable how, though I was using the same materials and techniques, Chia demanded utter refinement which Oscar stubbornly refused. The personalities of the animals always seem to direct the work more than I do myself.

Barn swallows
Another little 5 x 7" oil on panel here.
Flight Below Ground, an experiment with a little realism/un-realism combination.
I enjoyed this little piece, which I dreamed up while sitting at the horse farm, watching barn swallows alight and sit in the dust. It's available at my Etsy.com shop for $50 plus $5 shipping.

Fresh paint!
A Towering Cathedral, 5 x 7" oil on panel.
This little thing is based on a neighbor's yard ornament. Yes, I know -- but it has charmed me since the moment I saw it, and I've wanted to use it in a painting for months now.
I've posted this painting to my Etsy shop for $50.

Today's painting
Waiting for the Sun, oil on canvas, 12 x 16".
My life right now feels like one big wait for a promised spring, and I think that's where this painting comes from for me.
